2001.06.11    Ireland Bird Definitives
Displaying both the Irish pound and euro denominations, six stamps from the current Birds of Ireland definitive have gone on sale from Jun. 11 at post offices around the country. This dual priced stamp issue forms part of the An Post customer awareness programme in advance of the euro changeover in January 2002.

Featured on the new stamps are the blackbird 30p/38 euro cents; robin 32p/41cents; puffin 35p/44 cents; wren 40p/51 cents; song thrush 45p/57 cents and Greenland white fronted goose 1 pound /1.27 euro. Robin, Greenland goose and puffin stamps have been in circulation since the first phase of this definitive series was introduced in January 1997. The robin, one of the most popular designs in the series and the blackbird are also available in self-adhesive format
