To meet with the needs of the new postage which will effective January
14, 2002, five new value self-adhesive definitives revealed on 2nd January
2002. The stamps show a flag, a maple leaf and three traditional trades.
The new 48c flag definitive pictures the Canadian flag flying in front of the Canada Post head office in Ottawa, The stamp is available in booklets of 10 with three different cover designs forming a triptych of the stamp design. The new 48c Maple Leaf definitive, issued in coils of 100, features three overlapping leaves in light green, mid-green and dark green, almost the same design of the stamp issued in 2000 with the color changed. The Traditional Trades definitives continue a series beginning in early 1999. The eight former Traditional Trades definitives are all low value, with denomination from 1 cent to 25 cent. This time comes three new medium values: 65c jewelry making, 77c basket weaving and $1.25 sculpture. The Jewelry and Sculpture design are available in booklets of six stamps and coils of 50. The Basket Weaving design is issued in coils of 50 only. All of the new definitives were printed by Ashton Potter using five-color
lithography (an offset process) on Tullis Russell Coatings paper. All are
self-adhesive and die cut, with general tagging on four sides.
