2002.05.14   Ireland Bird Definitives
Folloing the revised postal rate took effect from the 2nd April, three extra euro value definitives revealed on May 14. The 47c, 55c, and 60c stamps feature birds that have never appaered previously in this series. The 47c stamp dipects the Kestrel, the most numerous and widespead birds-of prey. The 55c stamp features the Oystercatcher, these large black and white, noisy and gregarious waders are common on Irish coasts where they forage for warms and shellfish. The 60c stamp shows the Jay, an old world species found over much of the temperate regions of Europe and Asia.
