2002.06.07    USA Rate Change Definitives
In line with the expected rate change on June 30, as the huge first wave of rate-change stamps, billions of new United States postage stamps depicting U.S. flag, Antique Toys and Star revealed on June 7th.

The flag stamps, bearing similar design of the "United We Stand" definitive of last year, come out in 19 formats of nondenominated and denominated 37c. The stamps incorporated microprinting, tiny letters  into the design of a stamp to thwart counterfeiters in several formats: water-actived panes of 100 (micro-word "USA"), self-stick panes of 20 (micro-word "USA") self-stick convertible panes of 20 (micro-word "USPS") for nondenominated, and self-stick panes of 20 (micro-word "USA"), self-stick convertible panes of 20 (micro-word "USPS") for denominated 37c stamp.

The self-stick nondenominated (37c) Antique Toys stamps bear four designs, released in convertible booklet panes of 20 and vending booklets of 20.

The 3c make-up rate stamps, depicting a stylized five-point star, issued to meet the need of remaining 34c stamps mailer may still in hand. Two printers made the pane stamps, with the "2002" year date appears in two different locations in the stamp bottom. The third printer made the stamps in coil.
