| On 24 October 2002 the United Nations Postal Administration issued
a definitive stamp to honour the admission of Switzerland as a new member
of the United Nations. The F.s. 3,00 definitive stamp measures 35.96 mm
horizontally by 25.73 mm vertically and perforates 14. The stamp was printed
in offset lithography by The House of Questa (United Kingdom) in horizontal
sheets of 20 stamps. The printing quantity is 580,000 stamps (29,000 sheets).
In a historic referendum Switzerland voted to join the United Nations
on 3 March 2002 and in September 2002, Switzerland formally joined
the United Nations at a session of the UN General Assembly as the one hundred-ninetieth
Member of the United Nations.
