Carrying on the issue of the stamps in circulation "Polish Towns" Polish
Post put into circulation a post stamp presenting Kazimierz Dolny. Picturesquely
situated on the banks of t Vistula river the town, thanks to its perfectly
preserved Renaissance architecture, is called "The pearl of Renaissance".
The ruins of a XIV century castle according to the tradition built by Kazimierz
Wielki are dominating the town. It is also to this king that the town owns
the town rights. The unfolding itself from the castle hill scenery of the
town and the surroundings appeals since centuries painters and tourists.
Close to the ruins stays the parish-church under the invocation of St. John Baptist and St Bartolomeo Apostle, which is also presented on the post stamp. The church founded by Kazimierz Wielki has been reconstructed after a fire in Renaissance style. Every year are taking place here the Summer Music Evenings. It was obvious that on the post stamp presenting the architecture of Kazimierz Dolny should be also presented the wooden well on the Market Place. Among the staying on the Market Place houses, the most famous and beautiful - once the property of Mikolaj and Krzysztof Przybyla - are presented on the FDC. Kazimierz Dolny is also an important centre of cultural life. Every year are taking place here rallies of antique cars, a Festival of Folk Bands and Folk singers, a Film Festival and a venture called the Artistic Summer of Films during which are granted prices called the Crowns of Kazimierz Wielki. There are also many art-galleries. On the day of introduction of the stamp into circulation will be in
use at the Post Office of Kazimierz Dolny a special cancellation in which
is presented the reverse of the coin value one grosz with Kazimierz Wielki
in his crown with the eagle.
