Canadian
Wildlife Series: Grizzly Bear
Highest value stamp ever released by Canada Post, the $8 Grizzly Bear
engraved itself as a piece of history in Canadian stamp collecting. Employing
the same technique used to create Canada's first postage stamp in 1851,
on October 15, 1997, Canada Post released a steel-engraved definitive issue
depicting the grizzly bear. This stamp is the first one in a series of
wildlife high value definitives which will be issued in the year followed
to replace the long-run architecture high value series.
