Week #2

Question: Everything You Always Wanted to Know about American Indians but were Afraid to Ask

- First thing you should ask your students when you walk into the class when learning about Native Americans. (What do you want to know about Native Americans and what is it that you?re afraid to ask, but want to know?)

I do have a question that comes to mind. Are there any Indians out there who are Christian, and if they are, are they still considered an Indian or Indian of a particular tribe?

I am a Christian myself and I am proud to be what I stand for and believe in. There is never a time were it isn?t hard, but that?s life.

My mom is Hispanic and my Dad is German. What would you call me? I have several mixed bloods. I don?t know if I have any Native American blood in me, but I have German, Mexican, Spanish, Irish, English, Italian and the rest I don?t know. The way I see it! Were all human, we are all put on this earth to do something.

My question and response to Robert Francis (if he doesn?t mind).

Is your hair long and braided? And are you proud of it? I really like the poem. I love to write poems myself, but not as well as you do, but then again I guess we all have our different styles; just like we do with our hair.

RESPONSES:

#1 - Zachary, I would be proud also! To have that much heritage is wonderful. I can imagine all of the fun you would have if you ever had the opportunity to visit all the native homelands of your ancestors. Most of us have a pretty boring heritage. I envy you. That would be quite a task to do a family tree on yourself, but it would be very interesting I'm sure.

#2 - I couldn't agree more! Color me human also.

#3 - Zachary, I am so glad that you brought that question up about Indians being Christians. I would have never thought of that of that question but when i read it i would definately want that to be answered.

#4 - I am glad someone asked the question I was afraid to ask. I am really curious as to how the tribes are formed. Do some tribes become formed because of "political disagreements" like churches?

#5 - "but then again I guess we all have our different styles; just like we do with our hair." - nicely put!

#6 - I don't even know my diffrent blood types.
