Mhenlo, as Vala, is an ancient descendant of the first humans to live in Aventine. Unlike his fellow War Council members Mhenlo does not speak any of the common languages spoken in Selenia's realm. A brother in the Yi-Shang clan of monks, Mhenlo only speaks in their language which is taught to very few outside the clan. In addition to being able to call upon divine magic to heal Mhenlo can also see and commune with spirits.
Added to the War Council at Vala's request he is tasked with making sure all the city's healers are adequately trained and prepared for whatever injuries the war sends their way. In order to do this effectively he constantly consults with Vala, one of a handful who were taught the Yi-Shang language, and this has given rise to rumors of involvement between the two. The validity of this claim is unknown as only Vala is able to understand Mhenlo.
Also present at the War Council when the Warriors came he was introduced by Vala who explained about his silence during the meeting. He also took note of Shinta and his 'companions', showing slight interest at the time.
