Syne is what he likes to call a 'Shifter', a member of the extremely rare Yir-Cyyrse species. Like all members of his race Syne is able to replicate the physical appearance and traits of anything organic he comes in physical contact with, living or dead. He is also able to produce the appearance of armor/clothing but it is merely an extension of his biomass.
Syne was aboard the E.S. Icarus when the ship's AI massacred the crew. Disgusing himself as Midnight, a dog owned by a member of the crew, he was able to hide until the Warriors found him.
Taken aboard the Ettik Syne has since revealed that he was more than a mere dog. Though his race is neutral Syne prefers working for the 'goodguys'.
The true number of forms Syne can take is unknown but he has displayed several to the Warriors, including a lizard-like bear form that enables him to survive in space. It is also rumored that Syne's human form was copied from a bounty hunter who was after him many years ago.
His true form is a metallic-green color liquid state which can be seen when changes shape or uses his biomass to create melee weapons.
