At a pet show, Leela decides to enter Nibbler. He performs terribly, and is given the title 'Dumbest Pet in Show'. A mysterious group of brains are cutting a swath through various planets in the universe, and Earth is next in line. Nibbler, sensing the danger, runs off. Looking for him, Leela is attacked by the brains and sees him wearing clothes and getting into a spaceship. He almost leaves, but decides to save her and take her with him. It turns out that Nibbler is a superintelligent being that is sworn to protect the universe from the brains. Back on Earth, the brains attack, causing everyone to become stupid. At Nibbler's home planet, the elders explain that Fry, due to a special mind, is immune to the brains' powers. They tell Leela to tell him that he must fight the giant leader brain, giving her a note as she will become an idiot. Fry takes it and throws it into the fire by mistake, but she manages to get the message across. Fry, figuring that the brain is a giant nerd, goes to the library. There, Fry tries to fight the brain, eventually discovering that thinking hurts it. It transports him and Leela into a series of books, but they escape. Back in the library, Fry is killed by a falling bookcase, but it turns out that he has in fact trapped the brain in a book that he has written. He writes that the brain leaves the Earth for no reason. The Earth is saved, but no-one except Fry remembers or cares what he has to say.

Fry: Now he's trapped in a book I wrote, a crummy world of spelling errors and plot holes. Giant brain: The big brain am winning again! I am the GREETEST! Now I am leaving Earth for NO RAISIN!
