Leela isn't having much luck with men. The crew go on a mission to rescue some endangered animals on a planet called Vergon 6 which is about to implode. On the way there, Leela sees the ship of famous captain Zapp Brannigan, and wants to go and ask him for help. When they get there, he arrests them for violating Brannigan's law by going to a protected planet. He imprisons Fry and Bender. Later, he tries to seduce Leela, who thinks he is a pompous ass, but eventually sleeps with him out of pity, to her own horror the next morning. Zapp lets them go. The crew gets two of every animal, and also a cute little creature that Leela calls Nibbler. Nibbler eats all the animals and have no time to get more before the planet explodes. They have run out of fuel. Leela is reluctant to contact Zapp for help, but eventually does. He refuses to help because Nibbler is a killing machine, and Leela hangs up on him. It turns out that Nibbler excretes starship fuel, and they are saved. Leela keeps him as a pet.

Leela: We made it! And some of the animals survived. Bender: So a couple animals didn't die, and Leela got lucky. That's what I call a successful mission. Fry: We're heroes!
