Bat And Moths
Goal: Fun; teaches echolocation

Materials: Blindfold

Activity:  This game is a take off of the natural behavior or bats and how they use echolocation to see and hunt.  Have all the girls, except two stand in a large circle.  The other two girls get to be the bat and the moth.  The bat is blindfolded.  The bat calls out "bat" and the moth has to respond "moth".  Think of echolocation here...the bat is putting out a sound wave, its bouncing off the moth and returning to it.  The object is for the bat to capture the moth.  The girls in the circle are trees.  If the bat gets too close to the edge of the circle, the girls nearby whisper "tree, tree" in order to keep the bat from getting out of the circle.

This is a great activity to use when learning about animals or science.  Very fun and they enjoy it!
