Name Catch |
Goal: Get to know eachother's names Materials: Assorted sized balls or other small objects that can be tossed Activity: Have all the girls stand in a large circle. Give one girl a ball and have her throw it to someone. The person who catches it tells the person who threw it her name. (So, if Sarah threw it to Kathy...Kathy would tell Sarah her name is Kathy...got it?) The girl who has the ball then throws it to someone else and receives that girls name. Continue this until everyone has caught the ball once, then the ball gets thrown back to the original girl. Now, everyone should have a name to remember (which is the name of the girl they threw the ball to.) Be sure they remember these names...because it starts to get confusing!!! Begin the tossing again in the same order as above. So, the girls should be throwing it to the same people. This time the girl who throws it has to yell out the name of the girl they are throwing it to. See if the girls can get faster and faster as they continue. When the ball gets back to the original girl...keep going! After they've done it for a while, make it a little tricky and toss in another object to start. Toss in another one. And another! See how many balls and objects they can have tossing around in this circle. It is very fun and everyone is laughing by the end of it! Stop whenever you want to...its your call. You can play this again, having them throw it to a different girl to learn more names. |
