Bandits, visual range! Free For All is played against up to eight opponents, with no teams. The goal is to make the most kills. The Host sets rules and game setup, then selects "Free For All" on the Create Quick Mission screen. Some common variations are GUNS ONLY, and IRS (InfraRed seeking missiles in addition to guns). Considerations are: flight performance, caliber of gun, durability, IR Cross Section, ECM capabilities, and missile carriage. Some aircraft carry up to 12 IR missiles. This is a game where it is acceptable to 'steal' someones kill--the last player to inflict damage on a plane before it is destroyed will recieve credit for the kill. Considerations for choosing plane are: flight performance, caliber of gun, relative durability of the plane, and your skill at handling it. See the section on ACM for some basics maneuvers. Hint: It is one thing to understand concepts, but it is a separate challange to apply them appropriately. There is no substitute for experience, and the only way to get it is to go up against another person so you can learn from your mistakes. |
