Evading Missiles ....
Missile Inbound...  Break!

Maneuvering around an inbound missiles' axis at high G will cause it to over compensate ("jinking"), and using chaff or flares will spoof, or distract, a missile.  Sucessful jinking tactics should combine use of chaff or flares as appropriate, and, depending on the situation and the range, might include flying 90 degrees to the missiles path or making a barrel roll around the missiles approach axis.  In FA, each missile has specific chances of hitting it's target.  The percentage of chance for a hit varies based on the targets use of jammers, use of chaff/flares, relative aspect to the sun, use of maneuvers at greater than 3G, relative track, and other minor factors.

When all these factors are applied together by a knowledgable FA pilot, nearly any missile can be sucessfully jinked.  For the best results, monitor your target in the F4 (Target View) window then jink and use chaff/flares as soon as you see smoke from the launch.  FA takes several seconds to detect and announce an inbound missile, and these first few seconds after launch are when a missile is most vulnerable to jinking and spoofing.
