| A little explaination is required I believe. This poem was inspired as an opposite reflection on the history and events behind our country and its flag. The white of Hate refers to the white mask of the KKK. The fire is both the fire in KKK crosses and the fire that was used to kill witches in a reference to the Salem witch trials. The hero's of this country are its fallen and those around them pay the highest price. The Predudous of fear refers to the Red scares. The pursuit of justice is every intance where we waged war to stop a tyrant. Justice may have been acheived but at the price of many innocent. This was written shortly after September 11th 2001. |
