This is the first character profile up here, and appropriatly, it is Klinger's-the King of Section Eight!

Maxwell Q. Klinger - the unwilling victim of the army draft. This Lebanese man from Toledo, Ohio was convinced that he would be able to obtain a section eight discharge for insanity by wearing woman's clothing...however, considering he lasted all 11 M*A*S*H seasons, I would consider his venture a failure.  Still, he was loved for his oddities, and his attempts for discharge were always funny to say the least. From putting on a rubber suit during a heat wave, to trying to convince people he was pregnant, Klinger kept up his attempt to go home right til the end. Klinger was one of many of his family to try the same tactic to get out of the army, but when he was promoted to sergeant, he was considered the second most successful member of the family, after Hassan the Enforcer!

Klinger was performed by actor Jamie Farr, who really was from Toledo! He occasionally added some real Toledo locations to the script, such as Packo's Hungarian Hot Dogs!  Farr wrote an autobiography: "Just Farr Fun"
