Wine & Cheese

The Saint Lawrence Optimist Club held its first Wine & Cheese party at Dawson Community Center in Verdun on Saturday evening, January 23rd, 1999. The evening was very well attended by other Optimist Clubs in our zone.

Governor Robert Perreault and his wife Diane were in attendance and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Lieutenant Governor Claude Jacques of zone 20 was also there. Our guest speaker was David Faguy, Executive Director of Dawson Community Centre. The hall was joyfully decorated in our Optimist colors. The different cheeses and crackers, the fondue, vegetables and dips were well presented and served by A Votre Image, a new Catering Service started by graduates of the Riverside Technology Centre in Lasalle.

Crackers were donated by Alan Tompkins of Dare Foods. The excellent wine, prepared by our President and Secretary-Treasurer, was enjoyed by all, especially by our friends from the Verdun Optimist Club! We even had our own wine label.

The object of the evening was to raise money for our youth and we were very successful due to our members who gave of their precious time and the wonderful support from other Optimist clubs.
