Bring a friend in March! As in any vibrant service club, one of the goals is always try to recruit new members. There is always a need to expand and continue the process of bringing new blood and ideas to our organization. A stale organization becomes stagnant. New members bring new ideas and have to be prepared to replace the older members who have done the bulk of the work over many years. The Saint Lawrence Optimist Club is very active and wishes to remain so. March would be a good month for each member to bring a friend to our supper (March 24th) so that we may show them the work we do in the community and the enjoyment we get out of being involved in our community. (Joe Quinn) The Saint Lawrence Optimist Club will shortly be communicating with MUC Police Commander Johanne Paquin of Station 16. Our goal is to work together to put the word out about buckling up our children in the back seats of our cars. Not a day goes by that we hear of children gettig hurt because they were not attached in the back seat. If we, along with the Police, could save one injury or possibly even worse then I think we would have accomplished something special. The publicity we could get from this project would be important for the only active English-speaking Optimist Club. Please give your support to our members who will be involved. |
Essay Contest The Saint Lawrence Optimist Club has ventured into the local English schools to recruit students who would be interested in participating in our contest. Students from Saint Thomas More School as well as Allion School will be competing for prizes awarded at the club level. The recognition they will receive through the local papers as well as the prizes they will be awarded by the Saint Lawrence Optimist Club will hopefully keep the children on the right path in their education process.
