French Army Briefing:
April 22nd, 1809. Two weeks ago the Austrians invaded Bavaria. Things were a
bit of a muddle until Napoleon arrived and began getting things moving.
Yesterday Napoleon threw his army at the Austrians and split them in two.
Currently he is pursuing the enemy southward toward the Iser River.
He expects to give them a nasty shock there as he has forces coming up
from Munich to cut off their line of retreat.
Initially it was not clear how much of the Austrian army was driven north
and how much was driven south. Napoleon
also seemed to assume that the forces cut off to the north would retreat to the
southeast and sent you to prevent this.
Overnight however your scouts have come up with a different picture.
It appears that both the 3rd and 4th Korps are
North of the Grosse Laaber and that Regensburg may have been cleared.
Napoleon has sent some of the troops you detached to Lannes back, but
expects you to deal with the situation and clear the Austrians out of the south
side of the Danube. Bernadotte is approaching from Saxony and should prevent the
Austrians from reinforcing over the Danube with too many troops. You may deploy
the French as you wish South of the Grosse Laaber and the Bavarians West of
their deployment line (if the table is too short then the Bavarians will enter
from the west edge).
Victory Conditions:
The winner is the side that has the most unexhausted
divisions.
Terrain
Notes: The
terrain for this part of Germany is rolling hills. All the slopes are very gradual and the hills have a height
of no more than 100 feet. The
forests have small thick patches but are generally open to movement within the
scope of V&B. There
are several cases where woods in the area were charged through by cavalry and/or
had artillery move through them. The
woods are open. All streams are
marshy banked and the light green underlay around the Grosse Laaber shows its
extra wide marshy area i.e. the area where units stay disordered.
