October 25, 2006 - Job Update
On Saturday the 21st I had a job at the Telus Covention Centre to help people register at this conference, except when I got there I was informed that I would be doing security work as the conference wasn't going down until Monday. Bummer I got all dressed up just to be extra muscle? Albeit not much muscle. The job was incredibly boring but I managed to entertain myself and an old man gave me some entertainment for about seven minutes. Here's the jist of our run-in with each other. First off I was sitting at my booth playing video games on my phone, damn that Zuma is frikken addictive, and this old man catches my eye because he's staring at me, he starts walking towards me and I to he, it was magical. He starts asking me if 'three's a crowd?' as I'm not totally sure what this guy is referring to I try to ascertain if there's an underlying question to this question. He doesn't let up so I tell him I'll be right back with an answer, not knowing where I was going and knowing that nobody could answer my question, I just walked out of his sight, scratched my ass, had a little stretch and a short two-step then walked back to the old man and to continue our multi-faceted conversation. He informs me that his wife passed away five years ago (and that he and her brothers helped with the casket in the graveyard,) and he doesn't have time to get into a new relationship. So I assume he would be coming as the guest of another couple and didn't want to have to get all dressed to come down to an event at the Convention Centre only to be turned around and told to go home becuase 'three's a crowd,' and '[he]'d be in a bad way.' So this guy ended up getting pissed off at this hypothetical situation because there was no shaking his predetermination that he would be refused addmittence, despite my numerous attepmts that it would just be healthier to assume the situation would turn out positivly (that's me the optomist.) I guess you can't help people that don't want to help themselves.
So I've finished retrieving files for BonaVista and tomorrow I get go work for them at their office downtown, as I have been working at a file storage facility across town.
