Zoo Photos of the Month - 2002!

JANUARY

In this photo taken at the Philadelphia Zoo, it looks almost like the barnacled goose is standing on the duck's head.

FEBRUARY

This Cuban crocodile at the Bronx Zoo is showing visitors that he has a lot of sharp teeth.

MARCH

This sifaka is new at the Philadelphia Zoo, but he already seems at home.

APRIL

If you are ever wondering what a bresbok is, you can visit the Bronx Zoo and see this one up close.

MAY

This is one of the Kings of Beasts at the National Zoo. As you can see, he has a relaxed attitude toward ruling his kingdom.

JUNE

These two goats at the Brandywine Zoo appear to be the perfect couple.

JULY

This baby elephant at the National Zoo thinks he can do whatever his mother can do.

AUGUST

This capybara at the Brandywine Zoo is staying cool on a hot summer day by keeping at least part of her body in the shade.

SEPTEMBER

These coatimundis at the Elmwood Park Zoo love to climb around in their outdoor exhibit area.

OCTOBER

Glass sometimes makes it difficult to take good photos, but here the glass allowed me to get approximately 3000 times closer to this yellow anaconda than I would have if the glass weren't there. (See also my photo of the green anaconda at the Philadelphia Zoo.)

NOVEMBER

The male bighorn sheep at the Elmwood Park Zoo keeps an eye on the female from behind a tree.

DECEMBER

At the National Zoo you can see this beautiful living coral reef and imagine you are snorkeling!
