soon as possible. Warner Bros. is releasing a film entitled "Alexander" in theatres across the United States on November 5, 2004. This film, according to trailers now being broadcast, glorifies "Alexander the Great" as a hero and legend. Zoroastrians, of course, have long known him as "the accursed" because of his role in destroying our religious library, oppressing the Persian culture and civilization, and razing Persepolis, the seat of government for Darius the Great and his Persian empire. In the trailer that is now being shown, the word "Alexander" is superimposed upon - get this - a Fravashi. The Fravashi, or Farohar, is a symbol of the Zoroastrian faith, much like the cross is a symbol of Christianity. It has historical and cultural significance, but most of all, it has great religious value to us. Warner Bros. is attempting to use it as a symbol for the evil emperor who oppressed our civilization and caused irreparable damage to our religion and its teachings. This should be unacceptable to the Zoroastrian community. We must not let our religious symbols be associated with any other person or group, much less one of our greatest enemies in history. We must start a massive letter writing campaign in order to ensure that this symbol is removed from the movie, or at least portrayed in a proper manner, before the movie is released. Please write a letter to the address below expressing your concerns, and encourage family and friends to do the same. Warner Bros.
