New version of audience source tape from the classic Madison Square Gardens gig.
This is a great performance, especially considering the shape of the band in the early stages of the tour—Plant’s voice has improved, but still isn’t close to what it was even in 1973. His arrogance has certainly returned now that they’ve improved on the poorer shows from previous weeks, and the whole show is full of his typical super-confident song introductions (standard for the rest of this year's shows). Jones plays some discordant keyboard towards the end of the 'No Quarter' instrumental, giving it a very chaotic feel. ‘Dazed and Confused’ had also been brought back in recent shows, although it seems to lack something from the past—Page gets into ‘Walter’s Walk’ during the very fast section here, but the rest of the group doesn’t catch on. The show finishes with an interesting ‘Heartbreaker’ that includes a short ‘That’s Alright’ in the middle.
This 3CD set has a bright, clear sound with the instruments being well balanced. Excellent show, each band member delivers a masterful performance. MUST HAVE.
