| This was easily one of the best shows of 1977. Both Animals and Wish You Were Here are great as always. White's solos in ‘Have a Cigar’ and the second half of ‘Shine on You Crazy Diamond’ are outstanding and the backing tape before 'Wish You Were Here' includes the usual local radio signals. The encore section is truly a gem—a long version of ‘Money’ with heavily delayed guitar solos is followed with a nice ‘Us and Them.’ Then they add a very rare third encore, an amazing return of ‘Careful with that Axe, Eugene’ for the first time since the French tour of 1974 (and the last)—the song is revisited with more contemporary-sounding keyboards and the usual building up to the Waters scream. A great night in Oakland. |
