Casa De Fruta, California

June 14th and 15th, 2003

The Casa De Fruta reenactment is a very fun event in all areas. The battlefield is a large grassy area bordered by a road and heavy trees. This provides several avenues of entry for the troops instead of merely marching to the battlefield. There is limited shade at the battle field, but a large canopy is set up for spectators to sit under. The camps, however, have no shortage of shade for reenactor and spectator alike. This means that the reenactors are more likely to be up and about doing living history and other activities in line with what Civil War soldiers would have done 140 years ago. We enjoy a fairly good turnout to this reenactment each year of public and reenactors. Last year, we held several hand to hand fighting scenarios, which always provides for excitement.
