How does Toon Link Fit in the Series? By Kyle V The new Gamecube Zelda has caused a lot of arguements among Zelda fans all over the world ever since it was shown. These arguements were based on graphics not gameplay. Nintendo decided to make the new Zelda game seem more like a cartoon which is the complete opposite of previous games which had very serious graphics that were dark and sometimes even a bit creepy. After playing the Wind Waker you will realize that the gameplay is perfect, it's sometimes even more fun to play than the N64 games, but there's still the issue about the graphics. While playing the Wind Waker you'll notice that the cartoon graphics are well done. Even if you don't like the cel shaded charaters you still have to admit that the game looks good, however you would probably prefer these graphics for a game like Super Mario Brothers. As you watch the game in motion (stills don't do it justice) you may forget that it's actually a video game. The graphics may be different from the more realistic graphics, but the story is also different from the more serious games. The Wind Waker is full of a lot more comedy (Link getting shot into the wall is hilarious.) I can understand that cel shaded graphics would really be annoying for a dark game like Majora's Mask but they suit the Wind Waker perfectly. So long story short, don't make fun of the Wind Waker until you play it, if it still seems dumb than insult it all you want, of course there's a very slim chance that will happen. |
