ZSP STORY

The whole story started somewhere in autumn of 1994. Basically Deda and Shima and their two friends, Mario and Sveta, had an idea to make a band, to play some fast and strong, non-compromise music. Since we all liked hardcore music, in the vein of D.R.I., Suicidal Tendencies, M.O.D., Sick Of It All and others, we agreed on what the sound will be like. After a lot of problems with the members of the band who came and go, the first incarnation of ZSP was formed: Deda was on guitar, Shima played the drums and DJ Jovica did the vocal duties. It was 1995., the year of big crisis in our country, so we had no gear to play it the way it should be - but, there was some real energy seething underneath it all, and we found a way to record some garage demo's at the time. It was all done DIY, on a cassete, with a lot of heart and guts, right there in Deda's basement, in dirt and rust, and it was called simply "Zajebancija" ("Fucking around"). Lyrics were anti-system, but not just stupid, hypocritical pop punky antitude, which was very popular at the time, but straight from the heart and against all lies and bullshit that surrounded us.
Once again, the members changed, some new people came. Therte was a guy Benkovac who played bass from time to time, but he soon quit. Then there was Cvrle, who played guitar for some short time, he also quit (but stayed with us untill today, helping us a lot, and beeing a good friend), and Bane, who soon became a full time member, playing drums much better than Shima, who then took over vocal duties with DJ. That was the 2nd inacrnation of ZSP-two vocals, Deda on guitar and Bane on drums. These people made the second cassete called "DJ-evo upozorenje" ("DJ's warning"), which was also DIY, very rough, but played better, and it had covers by Ratos De Porao, Madball, D.R.I. and some 20 of our songs as well. We haven't played live anywhere yet, had no support from the Sombor hardcore scene which was drowning in fake straight edge morals, opportunism and hypocrisy (well, not all people but most of them). Soon, at summer of 1997., DJ Jovica decides to leave the band (but remaining a great friend to this day and a hardcore soldier with a lot of heart), and we bcome a trio, and in august that year the first live appearance of ZSP takes place in Semafor. All the rage and chaos we had in our hearts exploded... that was it - the first live act, nobody in ZSP will ever forget it.
Soon after, Shima decides to leave the band and get lost in a desert of immaturity and soul searching. In october 1997. a guy called Toxic joins on bass, and a new singer comes by the name of Dalshim. The band wrote some new, much serious stuff, had some gigs in Sonta, and again in Semafor, all taking place in 1998. Bane then leaves into army for a year, which was a period of rest for ZSP. No concerts, just writing new material. Dalshim leaves the band in meantime, and once again a new singer comes. It was Sveta (guy from the beginning of the story). 1999. saw the band practicing a lot. In the summer of 2000., suddenly Shima comes back from darkness, and band soon started writing songs with him. Sveta leaves in november 2000., and that was the incarnation of ZSP : Deda on guitars, Bane on drums, Toxic on bass and Shima on vocals.
ZSP decides to start again with live appearances (the last was in 1998.).
In the summer of 2001. band makes several concerts - in Subotica, at some music festival in Ratkovo, in Brestovac and once again in the legendary Semafor, along with other bands from Sombor, and in december same year in club Underground. ZSP was back from the dead again. But...
In spring of 2002. Bane, a long time member decides to leave. ZSP was badly wounded, yet not giving up. In the summer 2002., young Johnny, a hard hitting drummer joined the band. In august same year, ZSP had a concert at Atrijum in front of Sombor public. It was a big event, a part of the Sombor summer festival, and a lot of people could hear ZSP's brand of apocalyptic hardcore insanity. Anyway, we felt really good about that gig. Later that year we decide it was time for us to make some recordings at last. After a lot of conflicts, hiatus, tension, year 2003. saw the band devastated and non active. But, again...
In summer of 2003.we decide to at least give it one more try, just to even archive some songs of this now non-existent band. Somehow, with minimum money and a lot of will, with the help of computer and some people (who we mentioned in the cd sleeve) we managed to make our first demo cdr, called "Vozrozdenie" ("Rebirth"). It contained songs made in period of 1998.-2003. We were very satisfied, and once again ready for a new start.
