The temperament of Saarloos Wolfhond

(As you could see it is good with childeren, this picture is borrowed from Claudias page)

Many say's that you can't trust the wolf, I think
that they say that because they dont now much at all about it.
Wild and tame wolf's do not attack if not they are in situation
that they have to attack, if not it got rabies.
It's the same with Saarloos Wolfhond it will not attack if not
it have to.
Saarloos Wolfhond is not a good guard, you expect that
it will protect you.
But that do not mene that it not loves it owner,
it loves it owner and are good with children.
Saarloos Wolfhond are not a working breed anymore.

Here is someting else about the temperament
that i did'nt wrote:

The dog has in fact a normal temperament.
However, there is still part of the wolf present.
The Saarloos Wolfdog can be (very) reserved towards strangers and strange situations, but can also be like the domesticated dog.
This might result in what seems panic when they are confronted with unusual situations, they want to take a flight.
In playing they seem very rude.
Not only to wards other dogs but also towards the family they live with.
Bruises are not uncommon for the owner during the first one or two years of age of the dog.
The main problem in playing is when the want to play with dogs of other breeds.
Even then they are 'very' rude and it is hard to explain to the owners of that other breed that the Saarloos Wolfdog is not aggresive, but that it is its normal way of playing.
Even now, being an owner of Saarloos Wolfdogs during almost 20 years, I am surprised every day. It isn't an easy breed, but it is a breed with an golden character.
