Why do you change your oil every 3,000 miles?
A. Because the manufacturer says to.
B. Because the oil is dirty.
C. Because you like to spend lots of money and time on oil changes.
D. Because you don't care about the environment.
If you answered "yes" to any of the above questions, you need to
"Change Your Mind, Not Your Oil"
Oil does not wear out, it only gets dirty. It suspends the harmful acids and metal shavings, dirt particles and other impurities. Then, the oil filter is supposed to filter them out and keep these contaminants from returning to the main oil circulation and damaging your cylinder walls, pistons, rings, etc.
Here's the problem. It's not the oil so much as the filter itself. After about 3,000 miles, the filter is full and filtration of all those harmful contaminants goes right through and back into your engine. The dirt and metal shavings are bas enough but the key word here is ACID! If you change your own oil, have you read the box your filter comes in? It says keep the oil off your hands as it is harmful and can have long range harmful effects. Well if it is harmful to your skin, what do you think it does to metal and paper?
Regular oil filters NEED to be changed every 3,000 miles because the acid starts to eat away at the paper element and the metal inside the filter. If you do not change your oil filter, eventually it will clog and/or burst because of the acid that has eaten away at the casing and anti-drain valve spring inside. It's cheap metal. Why do you think you pay only two bucks for it.
DID YOU KNOW?
Every Jet engine uses a synthetic oil. Only synthetics can stand up to the extreme heat jet engines produce.
Every space craft that goes into orbit uses only synthetic oil. Only synthetics can withstand the extreme changes in temperatures in space.
Conventional oil contains parafin wax. In cold weather, this parifan wax crystalizes, solidifing the petroleum oil, thus making it difficult to start your motor. It is not because of a weak battery.
Standard Oil developed synthetic oil in the 1930's. The Germans used synthetic in World War II in their heavy armor on the battlefield to keep it running in the extreme cold weather.
The First API synthetic oil for automobiles was approved in 1972. Who was the leader that had the first approved synthetic oil for autos?
AMSOIL!
Amsoil extended drain intervals mean fewer oil changes, long term cost savings and more convenience.
Example:
Conventional motor oil companies recommend 3,000-mile drain intervals
Conventional 10W-30 Motor Oil @ 1.50/qt. X 40 $60.00
*(40 quarts needed for 25,000 miles)
8 Standard Oil Filters @ $5.00 per filter $40.00
Total $100.00
recomends
25,000-mile/1 year drain intervals
Amsoil 10W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil @ $5.50/qt. x 5 $27.50
*(5 quarts needed for 25,000 miles)
2 Amsoil Super Duty Oil Filters @ $10.00 per filter $20.00
Total $47.50
*Comparison based on 25,000 miles driven per year and 5-quart oil capacity
You save $52.50 per year using Amsoil premium quality synthetic motor oil and filter.
Even if you drive only 12,000 miles per year, the cost for Amsoil is the same as you pay for petroleum oil now! But you still get better protection, lower engine temperatures, eaiser cold weather starts and less engine wear. All of the benifits add up to an engine that will last longer and need fewer repairs. Change your oil and filter today and in six months change the filter again. That's it! What could be more convenient and good for your vehicle, too?
Amsoil is clearly the winner.
Longer life and higher capacity ensures longer oil life. Longer oil life means fewer oil changes. Fewer oil changes means it saves you money, time and it saves our environment! Think about it.
