Quick Lube industry has always encouraged their customers to return
for service on their cars between 3,000 and 7,500 miles. Most auto
owners manuals recommend a maximum of 7,500 miles for oil changes. In
the past, most quick lube shops and service stations that change oil
avoided "long drain" intervals because they wanted their
customers to come back every three to seven thousand miles so they
could sell other services.
