Roller Coaster Reviews - Playland

Here are some of the coasters, and what we think of them, at Playland.

Dragon Coaster

Although the entranceway no longer has the phrase "World's Smoothest Roller Coaster" painted on it, this old coaster is still smooth and fun. Lots of hills, lots of turns, and a great, new, dragon-shaped tunnel are the highlights of this very long ride.

This also holds sentimental value for us, as it was Jon's first full-size coaster.

Kiddy Coaster
This beautiful woodie for young ones runs with gorgeous Art Deco junior-NAD trains. This is not like most kiddie coasters that are rough and short, like the park's own Family Flyer; this is just a scaled-down version of a real wooden coaster. Normally, adults are not allowed to ride this one.

There were other coasters at this park that have since been removed. Some are described below.

Hurricane
Hurricane
Sort of like an intense Galaxi coaster, this standard production model has some small air-time hops, steeply banked curves and helixes, and one special curving drop where the train dives to the right so steeply that it reminds us of the evil "space diver" Flashback (SFMM). Overall, this small coaster packs a big punch. It's a bit rough and wild, and it'll leave you a bit dizzy, if not sore. But sometimes, that can be fun.
