No wonder most Malaysians 'labeled' cartoon is only for kids. There are sooo many cartoons dedicated for children with kiddy quotes in our TV channel. Yeah! I know we want our children to watch educational programs, learn facts, tra la la. Only a few animated series suit for adults ( I consider violence & romance 'grownups ' stuff ) such as X-Men, Batman, Starship Troopers and hmmm... I can't think of any other.

What I'm most frustrated about is there's only a few good anime (Japanese cartoons such as Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai-X) and Dual! aired in my country. Thank you, NTV7 and Singapore's Kids Central (I don't like the 'Kids' word). Lucky for Johorean, they can watch Singapore's channels. Some TV stations here screen anime like Dragonball and Sailormoon which present us bad quality of animation. Why don't they screen anime like Dual!, Dr. Slump or Gundam.

But wait, someone might remind me" Get Astro or Mega TV. There're pretty good anime there like Fushigi and Rurouni Kenshin but they are only available in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor! Oh, and don't forget, PAY UP! Ahhh, this is reality. No money, no anime. So, when are we going to see Gundam Wing ,Oh My Goddess!, Slayers Try or Trigun in our 'free' TV channels? NOT! Jangan mimpi la.. Lemme tell you something about these anime. They are cool, heart warming, entertaining, brilliant animation, great storylines, amazing image and sound effects, memorable characters, etc.

Too bad for anime fans in Malaysia. They have to BUY Dragonball GT, Cowboy Bebop, Slamdunk tapes & VCDs which mostly found in Japanese & Cantonese language. Minta maaf la but I'm not trying to insult any Malaysian TV station. I just hope that Malaysians will open their mind and quit thinking that CARTOON IS ONLY FOR KIDS!

Uh... what are ANIME and MANGA ?

For simple answer , let put it this way. Manga are Japanese comics, and Anime is the Japanese version of animation like Rurouni Kenshin, Dragonball, Dr. Slump, etc.

Manga and anime are for all sorts of people. Unlike Malaysian, which generally seems to believe that 'cartoon are for kids,' Japanese manga-ka (manga authors) write for everyone from innocent young children to pervert men.

Anime have appealing characters and touch the expect of death and reality unlike the West TV cartoon with simple minded stuff in it and can only attract Ribena children (kanak-kanak Ribena la tu) like James Bond Jr., Power Puff Girls and many more which you can watch every Saturday and Sunday morning on TV.

You'll know what I mean when you watch the so called Street Fighter USA from USA (of course) and compare it with Street Fighter 2 V from Japan. See the different between these 2 are?! Believe me, there are too many differences.
