■My oma grew very pretty in her teens. She was educated in Dutch school aswell as Chinese school. She speaks very good Dutch and lacked of practice in her Chinese. She spoke Dutch with my opa at home.
■My oma married my opa when she is 27. My oma's cousin introduced opa to her when he visited. Then opa wrote oma letters.
Opa came from a wealthy family. He was a boxer (yep..!) and soon he became an airplane engineer.
■Although my grandpa and grandma did not live with lots of money, they loved to go dancing and socialize (espically my oma).
Oma was loud and strict, but opa was quiet and timid (from what I heard). But they're a good couple.
■Couple of months after I was born, opa got sick. he had to stay in bed and had difficulty in speaking. One day, he said to oma, "cucu...cucu.........". Oma thought he wanted a glas of milk. When she got him a glass of milk, opa shouted, "cucu!!!!!!! bukan susu!!!!!". .. which is "granddaughter". Oma told my mum to carry me to opa. Opa then held my feet and prayed. I wish they remember what opa said... Opa died couple of months later.
■Oma always taught me that being happy is the key of long life. Oma laughs the hardest than anyone in my family. She could be the female version of Santa Claus.
■Oma has alot of talent in cooking, sewing and doing household. I wish I could be more like her.
I remember her bedtime stories and songs that she dilligently comfort us to sleep. Oma has always been there for me with my ups and downs...
Oma now is in her 80s, but she is stil lively. I promised oma that after I graduated and after I found a good job, I will take her around the world. I wanted to show her how much I love her. Oma will always has a special place in my heart. She's old and full of wrinkles, but in my eyes, she is my beautiful grandmother.
