overview
this job started off as a casual contract to assist the store planning department of markhams and rjl, with basic drawing requirements of their stores, whilst they were going through a busy period of work. the situation arose where i would be needed on a more permanent basis due to the workload increase, a permanent position was offered but never fulfilled and i was asked to remain on a contract basis. the nature of the work changed over time from basic draughting of the two retail stores to the design layouts of these stores and also to include totalsports, sportscene and manchester united retail stores.

my position involved all aspects of the three retail stores from the design layout and ideas for new concepts, draughting of all the required plans and details, consulting with suppliers and manufacturers, and at times overseeing outside consultants and draughtsmen for overflow of project work, and all office duty requirements relating to the projects, drawings, filing and record keeping, issuing and making any required changes of the plans. a permanent position had been offered to me on several occasions but has never been fulfilled.

all design departments within the group were finally phased out and all related work for the entire group was handed over to a single design company who took over the full contract of all store design drawings.
