| V/A - the DYNAMITE ROSE Shotdownstars Records This 7” is one of the weirdest pieces of music I own for a few reasons. First off the record itself was made for the marriage of Tim and Shana, which I think is the best fucking wedding present ever. Secondly this record has the oddest range of music (especially for a wedding tribute). The first song, by the DC straight-edge band Good Clean Fun, is by far the climax of the record. This premature Pete of records is a disappointment after the first track (“You’re Only Punk Once”), which is one hell of a song. As for the rest of the record I have a few complaints. The song by Milhouse, “Postcard from a Concentration Camp”, seemed a weird and inappropriate choice for two people to have to think of when they think of there wedding, but that’s just me. Plus I was really mad when I heard the crap that Atom (and his Package) chose to put on this one. He is the main reason I even bought this record, and it was so low caliber, you can barely understand his lyrics, and what else does this guy have going for him? Lastly, there was a mediocre cover of the Cranberries song, “Salvation”, by Silent Majority. There are also crappy Eulcid and 65’ Film show songs on this one, but trust me they are not worth talking about. So buy this for 1 maybe 2 good punk songs, cause that’s all your gonna get, but that’s fine you can get it for like $2 or something, at www.noidearecords.com, so its no skin of your back to try it out. |
