GRAVE OF LITTLE ROBE--SON OF GERONIMO

On August 7, 1885, Captain Emmett Crawford, commander at San Carlos, captured members of Geronimo's band near Nácori in Mexico. All of Geronimo's family was captured, except for his warrior son Chapo. Among the captives was a two-year-old boy of Geronimo. The boy died shortly thereafter at Fort Bowie. His true name is unknown. The name "Little Robe" is not Apache, and was probably given to him by Fort Bowie soldiers.

I am standing next to the headboard (which is actually a modern reconstruction of the original).
