Struggled to get up, all! A good
game drive, though! Wildebeest, elephant, white rhino, Mozambique spitting
cobra!, lilac breasted roller (pics 1 - 5). Back to camp for a HUGE cooked
breakfast (Carl smiles here!).

person then!

More pool after a quick game drive (yawn, lion, etc) and a chicken
potjie. Steve crawled off to bed, only to be dragged out by Carl for a
late-night Amarulas drink to celebrate our last night in the bush.
Finished the entire bottle! Needless to say, an early morning game drive
for this morning was called off!
A relatively late awakening - 07:30! Packed up and headed for Pretoria.
A cultural time-warp trip to visit some of the prime apartheid era
monuments! The Voortrekker (pioneer) Monument in all its cold granite
glory (pic 6). See the mad ones being Voortrekkers on their wagon!! (pic
7).

Hunger grabbed us, so we visited the local zoo - had lunch at the zoo
restaurant, then made a brief attempt to look at the animals, but all got
SO depressed seeing all the poor wild creatures in captivity, we left
SOON! The worst was the magnificent raptors in their small cages - such
majestic birds - to be cooped up in a space so small is heartbreaking.
Then off to the spectacular Union Buildings, South Africa's
administrative seat of government (pic 8).
This was followed by a walk round central Pretoria and Church Square -
and beers at some sidewalk cafe. Now it's off to a local pub - and dinner
...... somewhere!
