Left Mutikiwikwi early, and
travelled through gomos, ranchland and communal lands - with much cotton
in bales on the side of the road awaiting transport to market - into Zim's
Lowveld. Quick stop in Chiredzi for Carl to see the doctor, and a little
shopping - then into Gonarezhou National Park - one of the most remote and
wild parks in the country. Set up camp at Chipinda Pools on the banks of
the Runde River (pic. 1). Afternoon game walk revealed hippos and crocs in
abundance, and a herd of elephants browsing on the river bank. Awesome
sunset - see pic. 2. Check the photographers (pic 3). Braai - with
sirloin, sausage and vegetables - and an early night. Hyena visited 3
times - the 3rd visit making off with our picnic basket clamped between
his jaws!
