Makeup Surprises, All in a Week

Hi girls. Black two piece outfit courtesy of Estelle’s dressy Dresses. Three surprsing makeup adventures this week......

I have mentioned that I live outside of Boston. Often when I go into the city I take public transportation. It is pretty easy from where I live

So last Saturday I was heading into the city when a woman got on at the stop right after mine. Now you know me and I notice everything. I could immediately see she was high heeled sandals with reinforced toe pantyhose.

And she was wearing a ton of of makeup, include a bright orange lipstick

As luck would have it (and this is not often the case for me) she sat facing me in a single seat on the train. I could gawk at her for at least 20 minutes! One of the first things she did was take out a compact and powder her nose. Then out came the lipstick (Clarins, I know the tube!) and she reapplied.

To be truthful she was kind of a mess. A bad outfit and her hair was a horror show from a fashion standpoint, sort of an updated Farrah cut

But I didn’t care, not one bit. As I got up to get off the train she did as well. I contemplated following her, but I was a little late for an appointment so I let her go.

Later I thought to myself, if she was all dressed up on a hot summer Saturday morning she could only be going to work. The makeup indicted cosmetics sales at a department store. I deduced (Detective April, just the facts please) she wouldn’t be working at Saks or Neimans, not with the outfit she wore. So I went to Lord and Taylor, went to Clarins in cosmetics, Bingo!

Yesterday I couldn’t resist going back, and there she was, in a worse outfit.

Every now and then I get a catalog or flyer from Bloomingdales or someplace and just have to have whatever makeup they were advertising. I saw, of all thing, a billboard for some Lancôme lip gloss, and I could not live another day without it.

So I went to Macy’s, prepared to describe the billboard. Fortunately there was a poster there with the lip gloss on it. Now I know the advice I have given you all about shopping, but even I get intimidated in the cosmetics department. Especially since Sephora and how easy it is to shop there.

So I went over and one salesperson was finishing up a sale. She looked like somebody’s mom instead of a cosmetics salesperson, but I waited nevertheless.

“May I help you sir” I jumped. “Oh I’m sorry did I startle you”? She asked. This sales gal was everything the other wasn’t. Tall, sexy and her makeup looked like she been putting it on for hours. She reeekd of perfume. I loved her! Though I was a little shocked I rallied, and asked for the lip gloss, no mention of a wife or girlfriend.

She smiled and got it for me, then went on the hard sell. "You know this is gloass and most women wear it over their lipstick." I told her I knew this, and off she went. Lipstick and liner to go with it, perfume, eye crème, eye liner and shadow. I bought a few more things, and when she rang me up she gave me her card. “If you ever need anything else, anything at all, please come and see me again, it has been a pleasure waiting on you.” She said smiling as she gave me all those little free samples they always have. I will be back there

I guess this is the most surprising one of all…I have a chronic condition and spend some time at the hospital. My doctor had told me he was leaving the area, and recommended another doctor. So this week I went to the new office. It was a smaller practice, and as I went it I was pleasantly surprised by the receptionist. She looked to be in her 30’s or 40’s, and yes was wearing a ton of makeup

But as I stood there and she looked down I could see false eyelashes as well! In the hospital! She handed me my form to fill out and I saw the inch long red nails with white tips and I thought I might pass out

As I filled out the form I heard her typing. Nails make a very pleasing sound when typing.
After about a 10 minute wait she took a call and after hanging up came over to me. She wore a black print blouse, white skirt, black fishnetestockings and white shoes. Tacky and sexy

She explained that the doctor was on his way, I was his first appointment of the day and he was stuck in traffic. I wondered why I was the only one there. She turned to walk away and I could tell she was wearing pantyhose under her fishnet stockings. "Wow it is cold in here" I mentioned" "Yes even in the summer I wear long slevves bloused and stockings". AAHHHAH.

We chatted back and forth, most initiated by her. She had so much makeup on, with the false eyelashes, that it was odd to look at her. As I was leaving she stood up and shook my hand and told me it was nice to meet me

“See you next time” she said smiling. First time I wished I was sick so I could come back sooner.
