Germany

Bandy was introduced in Germany by the "bandy missionary" CG Tebbutt in 1891, however it wasn't until 1901 before the first proper games were played. The first bandy club was Charlottenburger Eislaufverein who played their games at Spreedamm in Berlin. Other clubs included Leipziger HK, BFC Preussen, Academic SC and Viktoria. Leipziger HK were to have played in the Nordic Games bandy tournament in Stockholm 1913, but this collided with the European Bandy Championships in Switzerland and as many of the Leipziger players represented Germany they chose to go Switzerland instead. Like in most other central European bandy playing nations the outbreak of the first world war put an end to bandy.
