Indiana University Art Museum

The IU Art Museum holds more than 35,000 objects including paintings by such artists as Picasso and Monet. Artworks of the Western World from Byzantine to modern times, Asian and Ancient art, the art of Africa and the Pacific and the Pre-Columbian Americas are all well represented at the museum. The building was designed by the world-renowned architectural firm, I.M. Pei and Partners. Hours: Wed. - Thurs, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Fri. 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., Sat. and Sun. noon- 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Dedicated to Bloomington's very own, the museum contains Carmichael memorabilia including a piano, juke box and records. Hours: Mon.- Fri. 9 a.m. -5 p.m. or by appointment. Admission is Free.
Lilly Library

This internationally known rare book library contains more than 400,000 books, more than 6 million manuscripts and 100,000 pieces of sheet music and compositions. Exhibits vary throughout the year. On permanent exhibit is the Gutenburg Bible (printed before 1456), as well as the Cloverdale Bible of 1535, and the first bible printed in English, John James Audubon's "Birds of America" plates, plus many other historical documents. Exhibit hall hours: Mon. - Fri. 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., closed Sun. Tours available every Friday at 2 p.m. or by appointment. Admission is Free.
Mathers Museum of World Cultures

World cultures are featured in changing exhibits that reflect the diversity of the museum's collections. Over 20,000 artifacts from across the world provide the foundation for museum exhibits. A major study and research facility in the field of Hoosier Archaeology. Included in the lab, which is part of the Hoosier Heritage Complex, is a public museum devoted to Great Lakes/Ohio Valley archaeology and ethno history. Hours: Tues. - Fri. 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Weekends, see exhibit through Mathers Museum. Admission is Free.
Monroe County Historical Museum

Located the the historic Carnegie Library, the museum features permanent and changing exhibits on Monroe County history. Special programs are held throughout the year. Hours Tues. - Sat. 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Closed Monday. Admission is Free.
Wylie House Museum

Built in 1835 as the home of Andrew Wylie, first president of I.U., this stately brick mansion is on the National Register of Historic Places and is now a museum recreating the early Wylie home. The grounds include a large garden where antique vegetable, flower and herb varieties are grown for seed. The house is handicap accessible from the east drive. Tour Hours: Tues. - Sat. 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. March - November. Admission is Free.
