In La Jolla there is a beach know as 'Seal

This was a very photogenic little guy. Every time
I lifted the camera, he would lift his head and smile!

Apparently these seals have taken over the beach
and reside there year round.

Even though the ocean was very cold, there
were quite a few surfers. I read that La Jolla has some of
the best waves on the west coast.

We rented a car because we wanted to see the
mountains and desert. Here we are going through San
Bernadino on our way to the San Bernadino Mountains.

The road goes from near sea level to over 7000'
feet in the course of an hour or two. It can be a
nervewracking drive because the road is so twisty and the
other drivers go so fast.
