Letter from Retha Banks - March 7, 1999

Thanks for the Web page. Super job.

I didn't know that we had so many of the family on the internet. Uncle Willie told me about the Boone Page. Have been in touch with Willy, Ray, and Lilas daughter Joyce. My name is Retha and I am Eddie Banks wife. Eddie is the son of Hilda Haines sister of Mable Boone. Aunt Mable and Uncle Bryon visited us when we lived in Hawaii and again when we moved here to Illinois. Somewhere in our old slides we have a slide of Aunt Mable and Uncle Bryon sitting on our sofa in Hawaii. I remember he had a funny straw hat. I gave Eddie the job of finding it, and then take a photo off the slide. If and when we get it will send it to you. The last time we were in NB was June of 96. Pauline wrote us and Mable (my husbands sister) and Fraser Rose in Cailf to come to a family reunion up on the farm in Dorne Ridge. ( Question- I have two spellings for the Ridge- Dorn and Dorne- which is right?) Mable and Fraser flew and we drove up in our mini motor home. I met a lot of the family that I hadn't met before and got a lot of information for my Family Tree. At that time I didn't realise that Wallie was so ill. We made a trip to see Grammie Haines at the time the first man walked the moon. Gram made our son Randy who was preschool tea and gave it to him in a "special cup". He still has the cup and saucer sitting in his room. Over 30 years now.

I have a bunch of pet parrots and it is time to fix them their breakfast of vegs, rice,beans and fruit.

We live in Edwardsville Illinois about 20 miles NE of St. Louis, Mo. We have one son Randy, named after Randy Haines, living in Chicago Ill.
