Changes From Last Year is in Bold Italics
The Liberty Mixers bowling league will consist of Thirty Two Teams (32) teams with a playing strength of five. No more than three (3) of the same sex can bowl in any one game. A team may carry up to seven (7) members on their roster. Rosters must be turned in by the fifth week.
The league
will bowl on Wednesday night of each week beginning September 5, 2000 and
ending May 8, 2001. We will bowl a total of 36 weeks with no holidays. The
league will bowl a split season of 4 segments. There will be 4 position rounds on week 9,
18, 27 and 35.
All scheduled
matches will begin promptly at 6:15 p.m. with practice beginning at 6:05
p.m. All bowlers will throw one ball
per lane of practice with no resetting of the pins.
The management
of the league will be vested in the Board of Directors, which will consist of
the officers and the team captains. The league membership will elect officers
of the league and adopt the league rules. A majority will constitute a quorum.
The amount
paid for bowling will be $12.00.
The cost of bowling will be $8.19;
Secretary/ Treasurer fees $.50 and the balance of $3.31
will go into the prize fund. In the event that a bowler cannot bowl, he or she
will be responsible for the full $12.00. All bowlers will pay the last two (2)
weeks of bowling by the fifth (5th) week of bowling. The vacancy fee
will be $3.81.
If a check
bounces, the maker of said check will be responsible for all returned check
charges. From then on, that person will be on a cash only basis.
This year we will run handicap Nassaus . ½ of the proceeds
will be used for fun night activities. The Nassau will be divided into 3
average groups. The three groups will be averages below 146, averages between
146-175 and averages above 175. Each average group winner will receive ½ of the
proceeds purchased in their average group. Also funding for fun night will use
$.34 per person from league fees each night.
Bowlers may
not be more than two (2) weeks in arrears. Any bowler who has not paid for two
(2) weeks will not be permitted to bowl the night of the third (3rd)
week. Team captains must notify the league Secretary or President if a bowler
misses more than two consecutive weeks of bowling. It will be assumed that the
bowler will no longer bowl and will be dropped from the league.
A bank account
will be established at the start of the season. Two officers’ signatures will
be required on all checks or withdrawals. This league will be using in-house banking.
At the start
of the season, the President will appoint a committee of at least three (3)
members to be on the prize committee, with the Vice-President as chairperson.
The prize list must be approved by the Executive Board and distributed to each
team captain by the second (2nd) week so that it
can be voted on by the league membership by the third
(3rd) week.
To qualify for
individual league awards, a bowler must bowl 2/3s of the scheduled game (70).
Teams and individuals can qualify for only one cash award. Awards will be given
for handicap scores only.
There
will be a playoff tournament at the end of the season consisting of the top
team from each segment. Points won each segment will determine these
teams. Once a team qualifies for the tournament they cannot qualify a second
time, but will still win the segment money for their position. If the 1st place
team any segment has already qualified, the next team with the highest segment
points will qualify. There will be a total of 4 teams competing in the playoff
tournament. Prize money to be won at the tournament will
be determined on the prize list. The League Championship will consist of three (3) games
with "TOTAL PINS" with handicap, determining the winners. In case of
a tie, a full game roll-off will determine the winner. League championship will
be played at a mutually agreed time prior to fun night so that all teams
can enjoy fun night or if no agreement can be made, the league championship
will be bowled on the Wednesday following fun night. The
league will need to vote on how the pairings will be determined, since it was
not discussed at the league meeting.
12. Position Rounds
We have four
position nights on weeks 9, 18, 27 and 35. The dates for the
position rounds will be: October 31st, 2001, January 2rd,
2002, March 6th, 2002 and May 1nd, 2002.
In case of a
tie on the number of wins, total pins will determine lane assignments on
position night.
In order for a
bowler to bowl in a position round, the bowler must have an established average
and the following minimum
number of games bowled in this league:
Position Round
1: Minimum of 3 games on week 9
Position Round
2: Minimum of 6 games on week 18
Position Round
3: Minimum of 9 games on week 27
Position Round
4: Minimum of 9 games on week 35
No new bowlers
can join LIBERTY MIXERS LEAGUE during the last two-
(2) weeks of each segment
of the league, except if a team has less than five
(5) bowlers on their roster. The new bowler must be approved by the Board of
Directors.
All bowlers will use their highest 2000/2001 yearbook average for the first 9 games. Any bowlers not having an entering average will establish one on their first three games of bowling. A new bowler must bowl three games on his/her first night.
Handicaps will
be based on 90% of 220 for individual awards and a team handicap
of 90% of the difference in the sum of the five bowler’s averages and 1100 for
team points.
The absentee
scores shall be the bowlers average minus ten pins. The absentee score to be
used is the score of the person from the team roster that has bowled the most
games. If a bowler is absent for more than two consecutive weeks, that bowler’s
score shall be computed as a vacancy score.
The vacancy
score to be used when there is an incomplete roster shall be 130 plus handicap
(99) regardless if it is a male or female vacancy.
A bowler that
arrives late may enter the game provided a ball
hasn’t been thrown in the fourth (4th) frame of any game.
Frames missed may be made up. There will be no pacers.
To avoid a
forfeit, a minimum legal line-up must be present at the end of the first frame.
A legal line-up consists of at least two (2) members from the present team
roster and including any new team members.
Teams bowling opposite forfeiting teams must bowl within seventy-five (75) pins of the sum of the team’s average.
This league
will adopt the unopposed rule. There will be no unopposed bowling during
position rounds. All rules will apply, including normal lane rotation.
The Board of
Directors will determine what is sufficient cause to grant a postponement. In
emergencies, the team captain will notify the league secretary at the earliest
opportunity.
Standings will
be determined by the two- (2) point system. Two points for each game and two
points for total pins. In the event of a tie score, each team receives one (2)
point.
An extra team
member can change teams and become a regular team member only once a season.
On the last
night of bowling, we will have fun night for all teams.
During a game,
if someone has to stop bowling, there will be no substitutes allowed to
continue the game. The 10% rule will apply.
Smoking,
drinking or children are not allowed in the bowling circles. This is the carpeted area past the tables
and asphalt tile area
to the lane. Pipe and cigar smoking are not allowed in the bowling center.

League bowlers
cannot practice on the lanes that they are scheduled to bowl on that evening
prior to 6:05 p.m. Violations will mean that the bowler will not be able to
bowl that evening and a blind score will be used for that evening.
29. Next
Year’s League
Full teams returning
will have first priority to return to the league. Split teams will have second
priority for single bowlers returning from last season or new singles that
signed up. Third priority will be new
sign ups and fourth will be new singles.
All emergency
situations will be discussed and a decision reached by the Board of Directors.
All rules not covered in the rules and regulations will be governed by ABC/WIBC rules.
