Week 12 THIS WEEK IN THE BRFL November 23, 1994 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- FROM RUSSIA WITH HATE: JONES/KLINGMAN FINALLY BEATS STROUPE 45-39 JONES/KLINGMAN finally beat their bitterest rival, STROUPE, and JONES was out Week 12 (Nov 20-21) of the country. They probably don't have NFL primetime in Russia, where Jones Berger-Browell 50 Wallace 42 and wife have travelled to pick up two adopted children. STROUPE had beaten Czupryna 45 Talbot 20 JONES and JONES/KLINGMAN all five times that they played and nearly stole this Jones-Klingman 45 Stroupe 39 one with 4 TDs from Atlanta. In the end, Stroupe's lineup - decimated by Gates 43 Ricker 38 injury and Andre Rison's suspension, could not over take J/K who won despite Jackson 33 Best 32 having their QB shutout. Peil 40 Outlaw 28 Deitrich 43 Montgomery 26 A great rivalry and great game: There is a new leader on top; BEST has been toppled by JACKSON 33-32. This nail biter was tied 30-30 after Warren Moon hit Berger-Browell vs Talbot qadry Ismial in the back of the endzone. Then it came down to two backs, Ricky Czupryna vs Deitrich Watters and Lorenzo White, and bonus points. Watters put up combined 154 yards Jones-Klingman vs Peil for two bonus points. Then it was White's turn. White saw the ball on nearly Ricker vs Best every play. The key one being a 41 yard has taken down to the 1 inch line. He Jackson vs Wallace did not score, but accumulated 205 yards in the game to earn 3 bonus points and Outlaw vs Gates the victory for JACKSON. This longtime series is now tied an even 6-6. Montgomery vs Stroupe With BEST's loss, Ricker might of had an opportunity to move into a bye position, BUFFALO AT DETROIT THU 12:30 but loss 43-38 to Gates. A key play in this game was made weeks ago when Ricker GREEN BAY AT DALLAS THU 4:00 traded Sean Dawkins to Best. Dawkins scored. Gates rallied late behind New HOUSTON AT CLEVELAND SUN 1:00 Orleans Qbs and Anthony Miller to put himself in third place. Jerry Rice tried, PHILADELPHIA AT ATLANTA 1:00 but could not do it all for OUTLAW who fell out of third in a 40-28 loss to Peil. MIAMI AT NEW YORK JETS 1:00 PEIL looks to be the most dangerous of the bottom teams and could deal an upset CHICAGO AT ARIZONA 4:00 to the week 14 team that happens to draw "this year's Wallace". Speaking of CINCINNATI AT DENVER 4:00 WALLACE, despite his low profile, he is scoring. He nearly threw a scare into KANSAS CITY AT SEATTLE 4:00 BERGER/BROWELL by putting up 42 points. B/B needed the big game from San Fran QBs LOS ANGELES RAMS AT SAN DIEGO 4:00 to pull this one out 50-42 and move into first. DEITRICH won his game 43-26 over NEW YORK GIANTS AT WASHINGTON 4:00 Montgomery, but tied Gates 43-43 in the battle for 3rd place tiebreaker points. PITTSBURGH AT LOS ANGELES RAIDERS 4:00 TAMPA BAY AT MINNESOTA 12:00 Bragging rights in the CZUPRYNA household this Thanksgiving belong to NEW ENGLAND AT INDIANAPOLIS 8:00 father-in-law Steve who whipped son-in-law TALBOT 45-20. Denver QBs matched SAN FRANCISCO AT NEW ORLEANS MON 9:00 Talbot's 20 and the rest was gravy...and speaking over gravy, Happy Thanksgiving everyone (and don't forget to lock in your Thursday players)! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- STANDINGS W L T PF PA LW Did you know? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. *Berger-Browell 9 3 0 485 384 2 A first place team has not led league in scoring since Bratcher in 1990 2. *Best 9 3 0 424 318 1 Loses first place for first time since week 6 thanks to loss to B/B 3.
