Greene with Envy
If Deitrich was jealous of Barry breaking his single game scoring record
last weekend, he certainly showed it this week.
Kevin Green and the Carolina defense sparked the return of BUD after a four
game slide in a 38-27 win over Barry.

Put Me in Coach!
Jackson's guys were all over the endzone on Sunday...However, most of
them were on the bench - about 44 points worth! It didn't matter though as he
cruised to a 41-30 win over best

Wallace Sneaks Up to Take First
Wallace destroys Talbot 47-5 and benefits from losses by Mosakowski and Best to
take the lead in the BRFL. Wallace got 44 of his 46 points from Oakland with
Jeff Hostetler throwing 4 TDs, Ricky Dudley catching 1 and special reserve
Cole Ford kicking in 13. Talbots 5 points is the first single digit game since
1994 and the lowest score since the 1993 Super Bowl when Wallace beat Jackson
37-4.
Jackson Slides into Second
Jackson found a way to cool off red hot Best: Jerry Rice. Rice caught two
of Elvis Grbac's TDs as Jackson held onto an 11 point lead. Jackson had a
number of receivers with big days, but Rice was his insurance policy in the
event of Best trying to rally behind the SF QBs. Calvin has won four
straight over Best.
Gates nips Outlaw in battle of Benched QBs
Both Gates and Outlaw decided to bench usual starters Atlanta and Miami and
went with Dallas and Washington respectively. Outlaw may have had the
more productive QB, but was an Atlanta receiver, Terence Mathis, catching a
couple garbage time TDs to give Gates the edge in a 35-32 win. Good news
for Outlaw was the return of Michael Irvin. Although, Irvin is Gates' player,
it is Emmitt Smith that saw the increase in effectiveness.
Stroupe SRs past Peil
A couple of special reserve moves propeled Stroupe to an unlikely 47-34 win over
Peil. The Baltimore QBs and JAX K Donald Hollis combined for 25 points and Karim
Abdul-Jabbar and Marshall Faulk took it in on the ground to win the battle of
the absent owners - neither of whom is working this month.
Hollis and Vinny get frequent calls to fill in on bye weeks.
Vinny has now contributed 7 TDS for Best, Ricker and now Stroupe.
JK pummels Ricker
The two bottom teams in the league went head to head this weekend and it Jones
Klingman who emerged after three weeks in the cellar in convincing fashion,
48-18 over Ricker. JK went with
Chicago over Cincinnati and it paid huge dividends with Curtis Conway catching
two.
Bud stops skid
Deitrich finally won after losing four straight. The victim was 90 point man
Adam Barry, who as the old adage goes, should have saved some for this week.
Both teams were led in scoring by their defenses with BUD getting 16 from
Carolina in the 38-21 win. Barry 69 point drop from one week to the next
is the greatest in league history
Favre meets his match
The juggernaut that is Brett Favre finally slowed down this week by scoring
just 9 points. Mosakowski, who rarely gets support beyond Favre lost to
Czupryna 37-22. CZ had a good day from Curtis Martin and Houston QBs and
was smart enought to start struggling WR Chris Sanders, who scored on a
62 yard bomb.
Noting the NFL
We used to award the "Don Beebe" award to the NFL player that is not on a BRFL
roster that has the biggest week. Don Beebe came out of no where to catch
4 TDs in one game in 1990, and had rarely done anything of note since. If
we reactivate this award this week, we should award it to Don Beebe, who had
over 200 yard receiving and a TD on the Monday night game this week.
Lots of coffee pouring this morning for bleary eyed Monday Night Football
fans. BRFL'ers should have turned in during the third QTR as it was apparent
that this was going to turn into a kicking battle, and neither of the kickers
were involved in close games.
