A Grand Day for Rice
Jerry Rice caught one TD and nearly two more. He missed slipping in the
end zone by a couple feet on his 1000th catch. Another TD was called back by an
illegal block by Terell Owens. While he is not piling on the TDs this season as
in years past, Rice continues to reach milestones. He is probably been the most
consistent player in BRFL history, not to mention NFL history.

Wallace - Jackson Front Runners for Byes
Here we are on election day, and it looks like the front runners in the BRFL
are Wallace 8-2 and Jackson 7-3 while their nearest competitors, Best and
Mosakowski fell a game back to 6-4. Jackson looks good with tiebreakers over
BEST and MOS, while Wallace has a game and a tiebreaker over Jackson. Wallace
plays MOS in week 11 and Best in week 13.
Wallace Quietly Subdues Gates
This week, Wallace faced Gates. Since Gates joined the league in 1993, the
first year of the tournament format, he and Wallace have met twice a year: once
in the regular season and once in week 14 of the playoffs. Each time in the
playoffs, whichever team was the lower seed won. This week, Wallace got 14 points
from Jerome Bettis. Bettis nearly outscored Gates who had only 15. Wallace poured
it on 58-15. Will Gates and Wallace meet again in week 14? Doubtful. If this
keeps up, Wallace won't be playing anyone in week 14.
Kordell lifts BUD
Two rushing touchdowns from QUARTERBACK Kordell Stewart lefted BUD to a close
32-31 win over Jones/Klingman. The loss was J/K's fourth 1-pointer this year.
Having cut Jason Hanson, you can't blame the loss on the kicker, as they only
have John Kasey. This week, Michael Haynes was left on the bench with 8 points,
however, he was probably pulled in favor of Don Beebe who also had 8.
CZ Wins Annual Battle of Elder Statesmen
The leagues old men went at it again with CZ, as usual, winning over Peil 46-30.
Curtis Martin has been solid and worthy of his fifth pick in the draft. CZ, a
New England fan, was thought to be paying a high price for sentimentality, but
Martin has been crossing the goal line at a pace surpassed only by Terry Allen.
When asked about Martin in a trade, CZ replied that he would trade his WIFE
first! (please note Mrs CZ: I'm sure your husband is only kidding. Thank You
for reading our Web page)
Outlaw v Talbot
Last year this game was the super bowl, this year just an ordinary game. Very
ordinary, 32-28. Outlaw continues to cruise on Emmitt's steady production, having
scored 8tds in 4 weeks. Outlaw may not be at the top this year, but has an
opportunity to affect the teams at the top with games against Wallace and
Jackson the last two weeks.
Barry rolls again, 60-36
Every few weeks, Barry pours it on. This weeks victim was Ricker. New England
QB and Ben Coates had monster games. Poor Ricker, this loss virtually
guarantees him last place. He has scored the fewest points and has given up the
most, but the most interesting statistic about Ricker is his running back
choices. Darick Holmes scored 19 this week. This is the second time Ricker
has left a 19 point back on his bench. All total this year, Rickers starting
backs have scored 90 points and his bench backs 93.
Jackson survives Mosakowski 58-53
Mosakowski was denied a birthday present, a TD from the Oakland Defense Monday
Night, and fell to Jackson 58-53. Jackson got TDs from every starter but his
defense, While MOS concentrated his points as usual between his QB (Favre with
24 again) and Carney, his kicker. The 53 points matches Jackson's score from
two weeks ago as the second highest losing score in BRFL history.
Stroupe Returns, derails BEST bye hopes
This past week, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was named as one as the 50 greatest players
of all time. His namesake, Karim, had a good day as well with two TDs. Another
difference in this game was the play of Pittsburgh D, which tallied 11 versus
the hapless Rams. Not bad for a CZ discard.
