Week2: Wallace Escapes Barry 48-47

Hey, You aren't Perriman Druckenmiller Favre getting sacked
Hey, wait a minute... You're not Perriman!
Like Druckenmiller's effort, MOS' victory wasn't pretty.
Hey J/K...Favre started 0-10 in 1995 BRFL

Unlike week 1, which featured several blowouts, week 2 had some close games. Wallace and Barry literally went down to the very last play on Monday night when Elvis Grbac threw a strike to Andre Rison for a TD. Had it been Brett Perriman on the receiving end, Barry would have won. Then on the two point attempt, KC's pass completion, was nullified by penalty, preserving Wallace's win.

29 CZ NYJ QB 6, CMartin 8, JHall 11, NE D 4
23 JK WDunn 8, RLongwell 9, Pit D 6

JK's poor effort in week one sent them shopping. However, help was on the roster as benched James Stewart scored two, and discarded Jay Graham showed what he could do for Baltimore. CZ could be accused of looking ahead to his New England Battle Royale in week 3, but it was enough to get by the un-dynamic duo.

56 BST NE QB 24, T Barber 7, ESmith 1, CCarter 1, RCunningham 17, SF D 3
22 CJ DLevens 1, EGeorge 7, SBlanton 7, CAR D 7

Jackson had 7 of his 8 players going in the 1:00 game, and at 4:00, it was Bledsoe 24, Jackson 21. Best's 131 points is the greatest start in BRFL history. Bledsoe has accounted for 49 of those points. The next most productive player in BRFL points? Best's kicker Richie Cunningham. These are indeed Happy Days.

28 BUD BAl QB 6, J Bettis 7, D Alexander 1, BEngram 6, AVintieri 7, MIA D 1
27 STP TDavis 7, GHearst 6, IFryar 1, MHusted 6 DEN D 7

Bud is 2-0, familiar territory, having been 2-0 for three straight years. By the way Stroupe does have a QB on his roster. It is Washington's Gus Ferrotte. He might was well start Peyton Manning...or Archie.

62 GTS Det QB 13, BSanders 8, JMorton 8, ARison 8, NKauffman 7, NJohnson 2, KC D 9
25 BR Den QB 14, JElam 10, GB D 1

Gates gets the turnaround award, more than quadrupling his week 1 output. Crazy 8's: Three players accounted or 8 points a piece. Ricker's five players have only accounted for 1 TD in two weeks.

26 MOS SF QB 8, MStover 11, SEA D 7
19 TAL MIN QB 12, MAlstott 6, GAnderson 1

Mosakowski was one of 4 winners with scores in the 20's (is Adam Barry green with envy?). The "Jim Druckenmiller" era could be indefinite until Young returns. Talbot finds himself right in the middle of things. 8th place, about the same number scored as given up. However, this is where he usually stays - until he pours it on in November.

48 WAL PIT QB 6, NMeans 13, CPickens 6,SSharpe 2, MHollis 17, STL D 4
47 BAR KC QB 13, TThomas 6, EMcCaffery 12 AReed 6, DPelphrey 5, PHL D 5

Probably one of the most entertaining BRFL games in years. Two guys getting the max out of their rosters and then having the game decided on the weekend's final play. Last year, Barry and Wallace staged a similar shootout in week 3, Barry waited out Wallace's Jerome Bettis in the second half of a Monday night game and winning 41-39.

25 DP OAK QB 12, TBrown 2, JSmith 1, CBlanchard 7, Cin D 3
22 OUT CIN QB 6, TKirby 2, OMcDuffie 1, WWalls 1, JKasay 9, Oak D 3

Peil achieved best case scenario Monday night. His Oakland QB/Tim Brown combo gave him enough to beat Outlaw and his beloved Chiefs won the game. Outlaw didn't lose a superstar to injury this week. That is about all you could say.

The Battle of New England highlights Week 3

CZ is going down!!

Week 3

  • Jones-Klingman vs Jackson
  • Best vs Czupryna
  • Stroupe vs Gates
  • Deitrich vs Talbot
  • Peil vs Barry
  • Ricker vs Mosakowski
  • Wallace vs Outlaw
NO TDs for no 28
Best: Looking for an air attack
CZ: Hopes Martin can run them in

Last Season, Best faced CZ in week 4 with his kicker was off. To get the goat of of Patriots fan CZ, he special reserved New England kicker Adam Vintieri, then a shaky rookie on a team that had yet to gel. Vintieri scored 18 points and Best smothered CZ 67-12. A year later, New England is the NFL's hottest team. Best's Drew Bledsoe is the BRFL's hottest player. It is matchup CZ dreads the most. Not only is he having to face Bledsoe, he's having to face him on the "revenge game" where the Pats take on the Jets and Bill Parcells. CZ will counter with Curtis Martin, Ben Coates and the New England D. Will it be enough to counter Bledsoe and Jefferson? CZ may edge ahead on Sunday, but Best has his Cowboys to overtake him on Monday.
Jackson Vs Jones / Klingman A week after cutting Jay Graham, last place JK welcomes him back. Is this a new way to stash players? Back in the old days, no one stashed them better than Jackson. However, Jackson cannot hide from this one. Eddie George is off, and injuries dog Allen and Kennison. His best bets are Levens and Mayes to counter Favre. However, this could be the week the rest of JK's guys step up, Issac Bruce is back, and along with Graham, JK has another emerging rookie back in Warrick Dunn. JK in an upset
Stroupe vs Gates This would be a good week for Stroupe to pull his annual disappearing act to frustrate Gates. Stroupe has traditionally done well when on vacation and not contacting his opponent. Detroit, who has put up respectable numbers, goes on the road for the first time. Gates starts three Lions. Stroupe, may finally get something out of his QB, Washington, who faces a pumped up Arizona at home in a classic letdown situation. Look for Stroupe to get win number one
Deitrich vs Talbot No one bedevils BUD as much as Talbot. It was Talbot the ruined BUD's bid for a perfect season in 1995. It was Talbot in week 3 a year ago that ended BUD's record 15 game regular season winning streak. Will Talbot be BUD's first loss for the third year in a row? Prediction, not this time. But those other times BUD was favored...
Peil vs Barry This is a rarity. Peil will start TWO running backs this week. And guess what? Neither of them is a Chief. One is Raymont Harris, who would be leading the league if Peil had known he was on his roster. The other, unfortunately, is Chris Warren. He was last seen riding a exercycle on the sidelines. Barry, who finally pulled himself together after his 48-47 loss to Wallace and returned to work - Thursday. Barry, is he so choses, could start the Chiefs vs Peil. Peil will counter with Oakland and Jeff George in Atlanta. Prediction, George is too emotional to be effective... Barry can enjoy the BRFL again with a win
Mosakowski vs Ricker Steve Young is back and should have a good game versus the hapless Saints. Ricker counters with Elway, who is usually not effective vs unfamiliar NFC opponents like the Rams. As for the rest of their teams... MOS's top guys have byes and Ricker's just aren't getting it done. MOS has the QB edge
Wallace v Outlaw Former roommates and the last two Super Bowl winners face off in a game tainted by the AFC Central bye week. Struggling Outlaw, coping with the Rice injury, loses Jeff Blake to the bye. Wallace, will also have to scrounge. No one scrounges up a team better than Wallace.
